Past

Humans from Asmiara are said to have descend from the supernatural races that calls the planet home. It is believed that long ago the varies supernatural species gave birth to a large number of children with little to no magical abilities. Having powerless children was not a new concept to the supernatural races. They had many such children before this event and continued to have them long after it had passed. However, what made this event different than the other times such children were born were the sheer number of powerless children brought into the world at the time.

There were those whom believed that so many powerless children being born at once meant the lose of magic upon Asmiara, and believed that if something wasn't done that the magic would be completely gone from the planet in as little as a few decades. They didn't agree on how to prevent this from happening. Some believed that all they needed was to appease the goddess. They claimed that their lose of magic was due to the fact that they had done something to displease her, and they will only gain it back if they made amend for their sins.

Others believed that the only way to regain the lost magic was to kill those born without it. They claimed that their world's magic was being absorbed---some even believed destroyed--by these powerless children, and believed killing the powerless children was the only way to prevent all their magic from being completely absorbed or even destroyed. It was an idea that spread like wildfire across the planet, and those powerless children either fought to defend themselves or fled for their lives. It eventually became clear that the large number of powerless children being born at the time had no direct connection to the magic upon Asmiara.

The varies races upon Asmiara welcomed the powerless back into their societies, but not every powerless were eager to walk back into the societies that had been so eager to destroy them not so long ago. There were those whose lack of eagerness had more to do with future treatment of their kind rather than past treatment. They believed that no matter how open to the powerless these other races are they will never accept them as equal members of their society. These were societies where your position were based upon your power level, and the fact they had no power meant they would always be on the bottom of these societies hierarchy.

A large number of powerless set out to form their own societies. Over time these powerless became known as humans, and many of their societies rose and fell--some were absorbed by the supernatural societies they had broken away from while others were simply destroyed. However, some of these human nations managed to withstand the test of time. One such nation was Adrealia. It was a country that decided to prevent itself from suffering the same fate as other human societies by limiting its contact with the supernatural. Adrealia forbid any supernatural beings inside their borders on the pain of death, but not all supernaturals within Adrealia came from outside its borders.

Evidence of their supernatural heritage reveals itself in humans born with special abilities. At first, these humans were killed, but than one day one of those humans with special abilities named Devin Kearney convinced them that keeping the powered humans alive might be for their best interest. They could patrol the boarders, and keep any foreign supernatural outside their land. Their special abilities would allow them to have a more equal footing upon the field of battle against these supernatural being, and even if they were killed during the process it would be no real lose. This was how the elite order was born. An order known for producing the best warriors in Adrealia--some argue the best warrior on Asmiara itself.

Not all evidence of their supernatural heritage were found in the form of special powers. Sometimes it was found within the physical appearance. There were those humans born that looked otherworldly, and many times when that human had children their offspring would be born whatever species had influenced their features. This did not always occur, but it happened often enough that when Dekel's father purchased his mother he decided to have a child with her to figure out what ancestor of hers had influenced her features. He had theories on which of the many supernatural races that called Asmiara home it might be, but none of his theories made absolute sense.

He wasn't surprised by this. He had came across others whose physical features had been influenced by a supernatural ancestor, and it was rarely possible to tell what that ancestor had been until a child was born as whatever species this ancestor had been. Dekel's father trained his mother in the exact same manner that he did any of his slaves, but unlike his other slaves he put effort in having a child with her. This effort paid off a few years later when she finally became pregnant with Dekel. His father was overjoyed by this news---not just because the answer to his slave's heritage would finally reveal itself but also because he had not realized how much he had desired to have a child until he had one dangling before him.

The day for Dekel to enter the world finally arrived, and his father couldn't be more happy over the birth of a son. It, however, appeared to Dekel's father soon after his birth that Dekel wasn't going to be the answer to his question about his mother. He would have to try having another child with her, and hope that the next one would reveal the answer to that question. He set out to have another child while raising his son. Dekel's resemblance to his mother became clear right away--he had inherited many of her features. What, also, became clear was he had inherited talents from his father. Since his father wasn't human, this wasn't surprising.

However, his father became concerned that the talents Dekel had inherited came from Dekel's grandfather. His father knowing just how these abilities affected his own father decided to do what he could to ensure that Dekel didn't suffer from them in the same manner that his grandfather had. He believed the best way to do this was to desensitize Dekel to pain and suffering. He attempted to do this by introducing Dekel to the slave trade, and having him watch his father train slaves. Regardless if Dekel had actually inherited his grandfather's abilities, the method that his father picked to keep him from suffering from these abilities appeared to work within his father's mind.

Dekel's mother, on the other hand, did not share his father's feelings over the entire thing. She feared the type of person this would make her son. It was a fear that played a part in her decision to run away from her master when she found she was pregnant with Dekel's sister. His mother didn't want her unborn child to be twisted by her father in the same manner that Dekel had been. She knew that she wasn't going to be able to take Dekel with her. One she knew that Dekel's father wouldn't stop looking for his son, and that it was easier to make an unborn child vanish where she planned on heading than a child that had already been born. Finally, she believed that Dekel loved his father more than her and separating him from his father would be more devastating for him than her leaving him behind.

She had been a slave, after all, any contact she had with her son had been controlled completely by her master. So, she decided to leave in the dead of the night---hoping to be long gone before anyone caught wind of her ecape or pregnancy. Dekel, however, did catch wind of his mother's escape. Being only two years old, he had no idea the reasons behind her desire to flee. He just knew that he wanted to come along with her. He grabbed a suit case that he packed a pair of pants and a teddy bear inside, and ran after her. He called after her---telling her to wait up for him. Instead of stopping or slowing down, it appeared that Dekel's mother walked faster. A fact that broke Dekel heart and he flung himself upon the ground in great despair when he realized that he wasn't going to catch her.

It was here that his father found him, and in his attempt to comfort to comfort him helped cemented Dekel's opinion of women. It, however, didn't escape his father's notice that Dekel's mother had been pregnant when she ran away and had probably done so in order to prevent him from getting a hold of the child. It was a race to find her before she gave birth. A race he ended up losing. He found her within one of his own whore houses, and was greatly amused that she had decided to hide right underneath his nose. However, she had given birth to their daughter before he arrived and the nature of the whore house made it impossible for anyone to tell which child had actually been theirs.

He dragged her back to his estate--promising to punish her severely for her disobedience. He locked her away inside a cell, and have kept her there for sixteen years. Dekel has visited his mother often throughout the years. In fact, he is the only one that can convince her to eat anything. He never told her that he is her son. He doesn't believe she deserves to know, and some part of him doesn't want to face his rage towards her. He believes that if he told her the truth of his connection to her that he would lose what little bond he had left with her.

During this time, Dekel's special talents had not been forgotten. Whether or not, he actually inherited abilities from his grandfather he possessed talents that had no connection to him. Dekel has a way of convincing others to do whatever he wants--no matter how detrimental to their well being it is. He doesn't just use this ability to gain absolute control over someone. It didn't escape his notice that unless he controls others in the manner he does they're unaware of his existence. He hates this invisibility because he feels like he's screaming at the top of his lungs to gain a flicker of someone's acknowledgement. Yet, at the same time he loves it for the benefit it has in certain situations.

Not everyone is susceptible to his abilities. Those with extremely strong will power or whom are related to him by a close family bond are immune to his powers. A fact that leaves Dekel emotionally confused. He has always desired to be noticed without screaming at the top of his lungs, but he has grown so accustom to having to scream so loudly that he doesn't always respond positively when it does happen. The only people he doesn't seem to become angry over noticing him is his parents, but this is because they acknowledged his existence long before he realized that he was virtually invisible to others and thus it never occurred to him that he should be the same to them.

Shortly after he became aware of his invisibility, Dekel decided to join the elite order. There are those--especially within the underground--that believe his father pushed him to join the order. They claimed that his father saw the benefit of having his son within the order to his criminal empire. It is true that Dekel uses his connections as an elite to aid his father, but the decision to join the order was completely his. He wanted access to the training that the order had to offer--both in physical combat and training of his own abilities. He trained within the order for a few years until he became old enough to take the test that admitted him into it as a full-fledged member. He passed it, and was given the name The Silver Fox in a private ritual that celebrated his acceptance into the brotherhood of the order. It is a name that only those within the order are allowed to call him.

Present

Two years have passed since he have been accepted as a full-fledged member of the elite order. During this time, he had came into contact with his sister. He rescued her from a dangerous situation, and has been keeping an eye upon her---more or less---ever since. He has shared this fact with his father, and promised to someday convince her to come home with him. He knows that he can just physically take her home against her will, but he wants her to have more choice in the matter than the others he have taken.

He have recently convinced her to come home with him. He has no idea what the future holds for them, but the idea of having his family underneath one roof pleased him in more ways than words can describe. Granted, he had not told his sister that they are related. He isn't certain that he will ever utter such things to her. Only time will tell if he reveals the truth to her on his own, if it is revealed by another or if such secrets remain hidden for the rest of their lives. He just glad she had agreed to stay with him.

Just within the last few months, Dekel has been noticing a few changes. He doesn't know what these changes mean, but quite frankly he is a little alarmed by them--especially when he wakes up to blood and feathers covering his bed. Some part of him believes that he should talk to his father about what is going on, but he doesn't--it might be fear that keeps him from having that conversation with his father or he stays silent because some part of him likes having a secret that his father isn't privy to.
